Privacy policy

At Railen GmbH we attach great importance to the protection and confidentiality of personal data. We collect and use personal data strictly in accordance with the applicable German and EU data protection laws. This privacy notice provides individuals who visit our website with information on what personal data we collect, how we use it and what options our website users have with respect to their personal data.

We have taken organisational, contractual and technical security measures to ensure compliance with data protection laws and to protect your data against accidental or deliberate manipulation, loss, destruction or unauthorised access. However, please be aware that data transfer via the internet is never fully secure.

1. Access data
We collect data on each access to our online offer (server log files). The collected access data includes the retrieved web page name, file, the date and time of access, the transferred data volume, report of successful retrieval, browser type and version, operating system of the user, referrer URL (previously visited page), and the requesting provider.

We use log data without assigning it to the user or other profiling. This is done in accordance with the law solely for the purposes of statistical analysis to ensure proper operation, safety and optimisation of our online offer. However, we reserve the right to check the log data later if there is reasonable suspicion of unlawful use due to concrete evidence.

We store IP addresses in the log files for a set period of time if this is necessary for security reasons or to provide services and if there is a reasonable suspicion of a criminal offence arising from online activity.

2. Personal data
We store and use other personal data only if it is voluntarily submitted to us, for instance by contacting us. If you submit your personal data to us, it will be used solely for the purposes of answering your enquiries, performing a contract with you and technical administration.

3. Cookies
We use cookies for the purposes of our online offer. Cookies are small files saved to your computer that may contain information for external vendors. Session cookies are deleted once you close your browser, while persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period of time and allow us to retrieve the information previously provided when you access our online offer again. Some log data contained in session cookies is encrypted. Users may use the web browser on their terminal device to delete session cookies at any time. Session cookies expire automatically at the end of your browser session.

Users can control the use of cookies. Most browsers have an option that limits the storage of cookies or prevents it completely. We strive to design our online offer in such a way as to ensure that the use of cookies is not necessary. Please note, however, that the use of the website and especially the ease of use without cookies is limited.

4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookies about your use of the website is usually transmitted to and stored by a Google server in the United States.

However, if IP anonymisation is activated on the website, Google will truncate the IP address of users in Member States of the European Union and other member countries of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to and shortened by the Google server in the US. IP anonymisation is active on this website. At the request of the website provider Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity and provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website provider.

The IP address sent by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be associated with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. But please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

You can also prevent Google’s collection and processing of your website activity data (including cookies and IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug available here:

5. Newsletter
We will send you emails containing advertising information about us and our services only if you give us express consent to do so. You may opt out of receiving the newsletter at any time. The opt-out option is also provided in every email message.

Before we send you the newsletter, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. Unconfirmed registrations will be automatically deleted within four weeks at the latest.

When you register for the newsletter, we save your IP address, the time you registered and the time you confirmed registration. We are legally required to store the registration data to prove you registered correctly.

6. Consent and the right to withdraw consent
If we use your data for a purpose that requires your consent under law, we will always ask for your express consent and we will record it. You may withdraw your consent at any time.

7. Information, rectification and erasure
We will erase your personal data when we no longer need it or when we are no longer legally required to keep it. You have the right to obtain information about the source of your data and the type and scope of storage and use at any time free of charge. You may request to have your data rectified or erased if keeping it is unlawful or no longer required.
